How can I minimise downtime if I transfer my broadband from eircom to BT?

In order to minimise downtime, existing eircom customers can input your new BT username and password into the existing modem configuration while still using the eircom service….. and it will still work (see instructions below).  When the switchover is made, the service will transparently migrate over to the BT Broadband service.  The user is then in a position to install their own BT modem at leisure. (Full instructions are supplied in the box)

Configuring your (Netopia/ eircom ) modem username and password:
To do this open your browser (eg Internet explorer or Firefox)
In the address bar, type in 192.168.1.254 and click go or press ENTER on the keyboard.

You will see the following screen / questions:
  ISP Username:    …………………...
  ISP Password:     …………………
    CONNECT TO THE INTERNET

Type in your new username and password. …and press CONNECT…...
