Where can I find an explanation of the summary page of a BT bill?

Each element of a sample bill has been numbered and you will find a corresponding explanation below.

  1. Total amount due on this bill.

  2. Summary of account details for this billing period your UAN (Universal Account Number) can be found here.

  3. How to contact BT Customer Care.

  4. Customer Number - when contacting us, please quote this number.

  5. Previous balance and payments - amount of previous bill and any payments received for that bill.

  6. New this period - all charges due this period, minus any discounts you are entitled to. See page 3 of your bill for a breakdown of your charges.

  7. Total this period excluding VAT - the amount you owe this period before the VAT charge is applied.

  8. Total this period including VAT - the amount you owe this period after the VAT charge is applied. VAT @ 21.5% is charged on most services and 13.5% on engineer work carried out in your home.

  9. Total amount due - the total amount to be paid including VAT and any outstanding balance from your previous bill. This is the amount you pay.
