Why do I have problems sending email from a non-BT Ireland address?
To To help us to manage unsolicited email (spam) you must use our outgoing mail server (smtp.officelink.esat.net or mail.esat.net or mail.iol.ie) when sending mail using one of our Internet connections. If you don't, you will be unable to send email.

Below are some common examples of when people experience problems:

  • You have recently moved from an alternative ISP to BT but kept your old email address without updating settings
  • You check your work emails at home using your BT (or IOL) Internet connection
  • You have a personal email address that uses a domain name

If you no longer need the email account, we suggest that you delete the settings.

If you want to keep the alternative address and you use an email program to send mail, you'll need to change your outgoing mail (smtp) server to smtp.officelink.esat.net or mail.esat.net or mail.iol.ie
