Cannot send Email
Why can I receive but not send Email?
If you can access webpages and are able to receive email but not able to send any then the most likely cause would be an incorrect setting in your email program.
To be able to send email you need to use the correct outgoing mail SMTP server address for the Internet connection you are currently using. The outgoing mail (SMTP) server address for a BT Broadband or BT Dialup connection is mail.iol.ie
If you use a different Internet Service Provider (ISP) to connect to the Internet you will need to contact them to find out the correct outgoing mail (SMTP) mail server to use.
So if you are away from your BT Ireland connection and are using a different Internet connection such as a 3G Mobile Broadband connection from Vodafone, O2 etc you will need to contact your mobile service provider for the correct SMTP server address.
Alternatively if you go to http://www.mail2web.com you will be able to see your emails while away from home. Simply input your email address and the corresponding password, and it will show you all the mail waiting for you on the POP server for you to action appropriately. You will be able send, receive and delete emails from this website.
You should NOT select to use SMTP Authentication on the Outgoing Mail Server when using mail.iol.ie
Also, you should NOT select to 'Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)'.
